Renewable Combined Heat and Power Systems
Benefits of Biofuel CHP
In our CHP installations, the electricity produced displaces some of the power which would otherwise be bought from the National Grid and the heat recovered from the engine supplements hot water from the on-site boilers. There is no need to disconnect any existing services as our plant may be integrated with the existing infrastructure.

This has a number of benefits, including:
  • Improved efficiency of fuel use and therefore reduced emissions

  • Independence & security of electricity supply (and also heat because most boilers don’t work in a power cut)

  • Assistance in meeting local Planning requirements and Building Regulations through the use of renewable energy
  • Improvement in the rating given to a building for an Energy Performance Certificate or Display Energy Certificate
  • Lower costs from those occupiers affected by the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) or any similar scheme
Our biofuel is usually locally sourced waste vegetable oil so the electricity and hot water we supply is 100% renewable. The fuel used is certified as sustainable by Ofgem and approved by the Environment Agency. It’s not simply that our CHP reduces greenhouse gas emissions by the use of renewable fuel, we also modify the combustion process and treat the exhaust gases to reduce emissions still further.
