Adapting a diesel engine to operate using biofuels is not a particularly complicated procedure and there are many organisations which offer conversion parts or advice. However, achieving reliable operation over the long-term and maximising the financial benefits of renewable CHP is a more challenging problem. Any combustion process produces exhaust emissions and controlling these to achieve the best environmental performance is also a complex process. It is especially difficult to operate a CHP engine using biofuels in parallel with the National Grid.

Cantium is one of the few companies in the UK that offers engines running on biofuels and also addresses all the issues of reliability, profitability and emissions control. Our experience in these areas is comprehensive and we are happy to advise customers on the benefits of biofuel CHP, or any other aspect of renewable energy production as required.

Most importantly, whilst we appreciate that using renewable energy is a laudable goal in itself, customers need to maximise financial returns. Our understanding of the G59/2 and G83 procedures for connecting to the local electricity network and of claiming Renewables Obligation Certificates and Feed-in-Tariff payments can make sure all the monetary benefits of ‘green’ energy are exploited.

Recently we have become involved in producing Bioliquid Sustainability Reports, to comply with the requirements of the Renewables Obligation Order amendments. We can provide an audit of other Generator's reporting processes to the ISAE 3000 reporting standard.
