Cantium Energy Ltd
Renewable Combined Heat and Power Systems
ROC Agency
A Renewables Obligation Certificate (ROC) is issued by Ofgem for the production of a given amount of renewable electricity. The amount of electricity required to claim a ROC varies between 500 kWh and 2000 kWh according to the generation technology employed. ROCs are tradable certificates and have a value to electricity supply companies because these businesses are obligated to supply an increasing proportion of UK power from renewable sources. They can either generate the power directly or demonstrate that someone else has generated it by purchasing, then surrendering, ROCs.

For the smaller generator, registering, claiming and then selling ROCs is a time consuming business so Cantium offers an agency service whereby we will try and achieve the best value possible for your renewable power. As we are claiming and selling ROCs for our own biofuel CHP installations already, we can offer a very cost effective service as ROC Agents.

There are various other financial incentives available for the renewable generator, including Levy Exemption Certificates and TRIAD payments. Also, there may be further financial inducements for renewables introduced in the future. The Renewable Heat Incentive scheme and the Feed-in-Tariffs system do not at present on biofuel CHP but this may change in the future. The agency service we offer will explore all potential sources of income for renewable energy production.
